WPSA AWARDS: 2017 ANNUAL MEETING

For nearly a quarter century, Betty Moulds served the Western Political Science Association with the highest distinction, a dedication to mentorship, and a commitment to building the WPSA into an exemplary home for political science scholars. The Betty Moulds Lifetime Service Award was established to recognize individuals who, like Betty, have a long history of service and extraordinary contribution of time, energy, and talent to the Association.

Our inaugural recipient of the Betty Moulds Lifetime Service Award also has served the Association with the highest distinction for well over two decades. He has taken on virtually every role one could in service to the organization: President, Program Chair, Local Arrangements Chair, Section Chair, Executive Council member, and Chair or Member on numerous Association committees over his 20+ years of WPSA activity, not to mention being an active participant at our Annual Meetings through the years.

For the inaugural recipient of the Betty Moulds Lifetime Service Award, the selection committee wanted to honor a person not only for his or her service, but who could also serve as an exemplar who all could aspire to follow. For these reasons, we are proud to recognize:

RONALD SCHMIDT

currently at Davidson College, and a long-standing faculty member at California State University, Long Beach, as the 2017 Western Political Science Association Betty Moulds Lifetime Service Award recipient.
